Location Type: Restaurants and Cafes
Cleveland’s queer restaurants and cafes did more than provide safe locations for LGBT people to eat and socialize. They were often utilized as places for discourse and advocacy, with gay, lesbian, and feminist groups frequenting these locations for their meetings. These restaurants and cafes were also a relief for queer people who didn’t drink alcohol, as bars and dance clubs dominated the queer Cleveland social scene.
