Perkin’s Pancake House, an LGBT-friendly restaurant, opened at 11901 Berea Road in 1963. Perkin’s Pancake House was a local franchise of the national Perkin’s Pancake House restaurant chain (founded in Cincinatti in 1958). The Berea Road location was one of several Cleveland-area Perkins restaurants opened by husband-and-wife team Gene and Peggy Lavelle in the early 1960s. Perkins’ Berea Road location was located next to the then-popular (now defunct) Ambassador West Lanes bowling complex. Perkins’ Berea Road location closed sometime in the early-to-mid 1980s.
