The Orchid Room, a gay-friendly bar and lounge, opened at East 105th and Euclid in the 1950s. The Orchid was a semi-private bar and maintained a dress code that required patrons dress “elegantly” to be admitted. The Orchid Room relocated several times after opening. In 1964, the Orchid Room relocated to 21093 Center Ridge Road in Rocky River. In 1966, the Orchid relocated to 1771 East 12th Street. In the early 1970s, the Orchid relocated for the final time to 1510 Prospect Avenue.
