JT’s Club Max, a gay bar, opened at 727 Bolivar Road in 1983. JT’s aimed to present patrons with an “intimate” and bar environment. The bar’s red and black lounge walls were lined with photographs, and “cozy” seating was available on both of the bar’s upper and lower levels. A grand staircase linked together the bar’s upper and lower floors. In addition to its upper and lower level lounge areas, JT’s featured a game room and a “one-of-a-kind coat room.”
