The Flair Bar, a “notorious primitive gay bar,” was located at 1216 Prospect Avenue East. The Flair bar was purportedly frequented by “[female] impersonators plying their wares to interested parties.” In the 1960s and 1970s, the Flair Bar was purportedly the site of a “homosexual sex-for-sale ring.” The Flair Bar was also the site of numerous fatal shootings. The Flair Bar closed in 1974.
