Club Diva

in Bars, Clubs, and Discos

Club Diva, a short-lived gay nightclub, opened at 11517 Clifton Boulevard in 1995. Club owner Frank Artone held Club Diva’s grand opening on July 1, 1995. Prior to Club Diva’s grand opening, however, Artone had failed to obtain a dance hall permit necessary to operate the nightclub legally. Within a few days of Club Diva’s grand opening, Cleveland’s first district Vice Unit became aware that Club Diva had begun operating without a dance hall permit in place. Shortly after, the Vice Unit notified Artone that Club Diva would be forced to close if it continued to operate illegally without the “proper permits” in place. Artone shuttered Club Diva permanently on July 17, 1995, only 17 days after its grand opening.
