Cleveland Women’s Network

in Groups and Organizations

The Cleveland Women’s Network (The Network), a social and business organization dedicated to “supporting and promoting lesbian business owners and professionals” in the greater Cleveland area, was founded in 1989. The Cleveland Women’s Network was created to “increase lesbian networking opportunities, both professional and social; to strengthen lesbian economy, culture, and community; to promote lesbian-owned businesses within the greater Cleveland area; and to establish lesbians as a viable, active force within the gay community and the community at large.” The Cleveland Women’s Network hosted monthly meetings at “area gay owned or gay friendly restaurants,” typically “followed by member presentations or discussion of a monthly topic.” Presentations by members or guest speakers generally covered topics of “professional or personal value” to group members. Outside of monthly meetings, the Cleveland Women’s Network hosted a number of annual events, including “potlucks, clambakes, [and] Halloween and holiday parties” throughout the year.
