The Blue Bijou, a 24-hour gay all-male adult theater, opened at 2006 Prospect Avenue East in 1979. The Blue Bijou contained a “disco sound stage,” “romp rooms” (“private sensual encounter rooms”), and the Freedom Lounge, a “San Francisco-style” lounge purpose-designed for cruising.
