Awakenings

in Groups and Organizations

Awakenings, an LGBT+ “life and relationship” discussion and support group, was founded by Bob Elias in 1986. Awakenings held group meetings (typically preceded by group dinners) on the “first and third Wednesday of each month” at the Brecksville Commons Building, 8221 Brecksville Road. Awakenings also hosted social events, including “outdoorsy things, brunches, parties, [and] jaunts to dance clubs,” for its members. Awakenings remained active into the late 2000s.
