in Bars, Clubs, and Discos

After Dark Cocktail Lounge, a gay bar and lounge, opened at 13111 Broadway Avenue in 1975. After Dark Cocktail Lounge featured a “spacious, Italian Alpine atmosphere.” After Dark Cocktail Lounge operated as a gay bar for roughly nine months. Marshall, After Dark’s owner, welcomed LGBT+ community members and hosted a variety of events geared toward Cleveland’s LGBT+ communities. However, after “nine months of operating at a loss,” Marshall opted to reopen the club as a straight bar in mid-1976.
