Vibe Bar + Patio, an LGBT+ bar, opened at 11633 Lorain Avenue in 2011. After purchasing the bar formerly inhabited by Hush, Carl and Joyce Valerink opened Vibe in 2011. Vibe is best known for its bar and heated, enclosed outdoor patio, and special events. Vibe contains a long bar with a “polished interior,” typically covered with “dozens of liquor bottles in a shiny display behind the counter.” Barstool seating is available throughout the bar. A pool table, “touch-screen jukebox,” and stage near the back of the bar – all holdovers from the space’s previous tenants – provide patrons with various avenues for entertainment. Kevin and John Briggs purchased Vibe in 2019 shortly before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Though the pandemic has deeply impacted the bar’s business, its new owners have been able steadily attract new patrons by introducing a variety of special events and themed nights throughout the week.
